Writing Center

Frequently Asked Questions:

- Is it free?

Yes!

- Who can use the writing center?

Any student who attends FMHS.

- Who will be helping me?

Right now, Mrs. Jamieson, but next semester I hope to add student tutors too!

- Where do tutoring sessions happen?

In the library.

- When can I visit the writing center?

Before school, during the school day when you have a free period, during lunch, or during class if you have a pass from your teacher.

- Where do I book a tutoring session?

In person in the library, or online using the QR code that links to the google form.

- Can you guarantee my grades will go up?

We can't guarantee your grade will go up. Your writing is likely to improve, which usually results in higher grades, but your grade is ultimately between you and your teacher.

- Can I drop off a paper for final editing, and return later to pick it up?

We don't allow this because our intention is to improve your writing ability. Editing and proofreading is likely to improve your grade, but not your ability to recognize these errors in the future. We will work with you to edit and proofread a paper you began crafting in the writing center, however.

- Can you critique my personal creative writing?

Sure! I would be happy to look at your original work!
