You Can't Take it With You

Grandpa Vanderhof and his wacky family, the Sycamores, have been happily living their zany lives in his house by Columbia University in New York for many years. This family (and their friends) are a madcap group of eccentrics, marching to the beat of their own drum, with pride and joy. Their hobbies include collecting snakes, building fireworks in the basement, writing a myriad of plays that never get published, and taking ballet lessons. Things like stress, jobs, and paying taxes to the government are for other people, not for them! But when practical young Alice Sycamore becomes engaged to her company’s Vice President Tony Kirby, the Vanderhof/Sycamore clan must straighten up to meet the new in-laws. Disaster ensues when the Kirbys arrive at the wrong time and, despite the best laid plans, see Alice’s family in all of its crazy glory. The evening ends with everyone in the house getting arrested, and Alice ending the engagement.

The picture shows the cast in their costumes, all smiling towards the audience.
A close-up of two characters shows the one on the left wearing goggles on his head, a white button-down shirt, and a white apron. He is holding a grey bucket in one hand and what appears to be a bomb in the other hand—a red stick with white string coming out of the top.
A close-up of a character sitting in a chair shows him talking to someone off-screen on the right. He has his hands up, with one hand holding a cane. He is wearing a white button-down shirt and khakis.
In the photo, a male character in a button-down shirt is extending his hand to shake hands with a girl, who is reaching back but has a disgusted look on her face. She is wearing a fur wrap around her shoulders and a blue dress. Next to her stands a male in a white button-down shirt with a bow tie and black slacks, with his hands in his pockets.
In the cast photo before the performance, everyone is in their costumes, either sitting or standing. They are all looking at the camera and smiling.
In the photo, a girl in a ballerina costume is sitting on the stage. To her right, a male character is extending his hand toward her, inviting her to grab it.
In the living room set with purple walls, a girl is sitting on the couch looking up at another female character, who is looking back at her and holding papers in her hand.
The photo is a body shot of a character wearing a toga costume.
