Requirements for Officer Positions

Thinking about applying for an officer position? Here are the requirements:

President:

  1. Requirements:

  • 3.0 Average GPA
  • 2 or more years with participation in at least 3 shows.
  • Must be able to drive
  • Good communication skills
  • Maintain a good relationship with directors

2. Responsibilities

  • Weekly meetings with director(s)
  • Collaborate with the drama club director(s) and the drama club officers in order to plan and announce all drama club meetings in a timely manner. Creates the agenda and leads the monthly meeting. Ensure all meetings are enjoyable, informative, and well organized. Plan games and organize the information for the meetings.
  • Maintains participation in shows (1 a year)
  • Works with club officers to develop strategies for strengthening the drama department
  • Ensures all officers are fulfilling their duties
  • Oversee any event the drama club undertakes during the year. Whether it is a drama club or officer meeting, a play production, fundraisers, theatre banquet, etc. the president is required to attend and oversee all such events.
  • Assist the directors with whatever necessary. While the president is the head of the club, its directors have the final say and are ultimately above all decisions made by the president.
  • Coordinate the Drama Club Banquet for the end of the year. Ensure all portions of the banquet are successfully completed and all officers participate.
  • Represent Drama Club at school functions.

Vice President:

  1. Requirements:

  • 3.0 Average GPA
  • 2 or more years with participation in at least 2 shows.
  • Good communication skills
  • Fairly organized
  • Maintain a good relationship with directors

2. Responsibilities

  • Assist the President in a variety of ways. Whether running an errand or being delegated to a large event, the Vice-President should stand by for any action that must be taken. The Vice-President must be active in asking the Presidents what needs to be accomplished.
  • Act in the position of the President. If the President is unable to attend a meeting or event, it is the sole responsibility of the Vice-President to seek out information from the president that should be discussed at a meeting.
  • Organize fundraisers (as needed) with directors
  • Willing to learn and run lights and sounds for school functions in case the director(s) are unavailable
  • Assists in planning sets/set building
  • Promote club membership with Publicity Director.
  • Represent Drama Club at school functions.
  • Coordinate the Drama Club Banquet for the end of the year. Ensure all portions of the banquet are successfully completed and all officers participate.
  • Ensures an inventory of costumes is up to date and correct before all shows, makes sure costumes are in useable and if not lets the director/costumer know ASAP, and ensures costumes get returned in a timely manner after use.

Secretary/Publicity:

  1. Requirements:

  • 2.0 Average GPA
  • 1 or more years with participation in at least 1 show
  • Maintain a good relationship with directors

2. Responsibilities

  • Plan officer elections for the following year.
  • Contacts Fort Morgan Times or other publication during show times to advertise show
  • Keep an organized file of contact information and records for all drama club members including meeting attendance.
  • Send out reminders to club members.
  • Ensures all cast members have completed either 5 posters to hang around town or in yards, or have sold additional 2 ads
  • Ensure all cast members have sold all 3 ads for each show they are involved with.
  • Take minutes and keep an updated calendar at all meetings in order to better inform those who may be absent.
  • Take attendance at meetings. Coordinate with Vice President/Stage Manager on rehearsal attendance.
  • Publicize all meetings and gatherings one week prior to meeting.
  • Ensures inventory of props is up to date and correct before all shows, makes sure props are in good working order, and ensures props get returned in a timely manner after use.

Trip Captain:

  1. Requirements:

  • 2.0 Average GPA
  • 1 or more years with participation in at least 1 show
  • Maintain a good relationship with directors

2. Responsibilities

  • Researches possible trips to be taken throughout the year, fills out the “Field Trip Request Form” , and submits it to the director(s) at least 3 weeks before the trip.
  • Ensures all permission forms and money are collected by the director from students before he /she is allowed to attend.
  • Design logos for Drama Club and production T-shirts, programs and advertisements.
  • Promote Drama Club – recruit new members, along with Vice President.
  • Promote attendance and ticket sales for all Drama Club productions and events.
  • Create and help distribute flyers to schools about upcoming events/shows.
